We’re guessing there are a few things you don’t know about Milford so we we wanted to promote our home town with some information, such as:

  1. Our Milford Schools Are Ace!

Milford has a high school and junior high that share a beautiful campus up in the Miami Hills. We have six elementary schools – Meadowview, McCormick, John Pattison, Mulberry, Charles Seipelt, and Boyd E. Smith – that are spread out among the neighborhoods. But with only 6,000 residents (approximately), our schools are fairly small. Among schools across the state of Ohio, Milford schools are in the top 4% (for the 2016-2017 school year’s rankings). 96th percentile! We’re proud of our teachers, and our school system.

  1. It Straddles Two Counties

We’re a little bit Clermont, and a little bit Hamilton. A little bit country, and a little bit rock n’ roll. Our four square miles are mainly east of the border — mainly Clermont, that is — but we sit on the fence.

  1. Milford Ohio’s Founder Fought In The Revolutionary War

John Nancarrow was his name. After the way, he began building on a patch of land that incorporates part of Miami Township, Old Milford, and Milford. The place where two rivers meet is Milford. The Little Miami River and its East Fork come together here in town, and it makes for a lovely, scenic backdrop.

In all honesty, though, John Nancarrow never visited Milford. Nancarrow was back in Virginia. He had the land, but he sold 230 acres of it to Philip Gatch. Gatch sold part of his land to Ambrose Ranson, who sold some of his parcel to John Hageman.

  1. Many hiking trails converge in Milford

The 6,800-mile American Discovery Trail meets up with several other trails here in Milford. The American Discovery Trail is the Mississippi River of trails, of sorts, while the others are tributaries.
